Best of the Iris Prize: New Shorts arrive on OUTtv and OUTflix

OUTtv is starting 2025 with a heartwarming and diverse collection of short films that celebrate the best of the Iris Prize Film Festival, which is one of the world’s most important LGBTQ+ festivals. It celebrates the power of storytelling and gives a big shoutout to queer voices from all over the world. Every year, it’s held in Cardiff, Wales, and it has the famous £30,000 Iris Prize, the biggest short film prize for LGBTQ+ filmmakers.

These stories are about love, loss, identity, and resilience, and they come from all over the LGBTQ+ community. From the sweet reunion in Betty and Jean to the raw self-discovery of Bleach and the magical reflections of Fortune Favours the Fantabulous, this lineup has something for everyone. Whether it’s figuring out complicated relationships, like in F**ked, or fighting against society’s expectations in Realness With A Twist, these shorts show off powerful voices and amazing stories. Bleach

Caught in a cycle of intense home workouts and empty Grindr hookups, Lloyd who never forgets to clean his equipment – or himself – of any marks he has made. As his spiral worsens, his ability to connect with those around him depletes until he can no longer enjoy sex. Lloyd’s self-hatred culminates in an act of destruction with which he can finally wash away his feelings of filth. Stream Bleach now on OUTtv.

F**ed asks what exactly are the rules in an open relationship? With no rulebook, it’s down to the couple to draw their lines… So when Dani tells Jess she might be interested in sleeping with guys again, it doesn’t go down too well. There’s something about hitting 30 that makes you question whether you’re really being true to yourself.

Fortune Favours the Fantabulous

Fortune Favours the Fabulous follows queer fortune teller, conjurer and runaway Fei Liu who lives and performs out of a tent in the middle of the marshes. Over the course of three days, figures and phantoms of past, present and neither penetrate Fei’s tent and plague their subconscious, threatening to unravel their way of life and throwing their own future – and grip on reality – into turmoil.

Goodbye Python

When the funding is cut from his program, software engineer Kai is faced with saying goodbye to his best friend – The conscious AI he helped develop. Once Kai has accepted that it’s time to move on and enters the exit code, the AI goes rogue and decides to run the grief healing simulation on Kai – Forcing him to face the person he needs to let go of the most. Just Passing

Just Passing follows Del, a workaholic struggling with her mental health, wants to escape the numbness consuming her. Lemon
