Last night, Bob the Drag Queen wrapped up her sold out tour of Canada, “Crazy Black Lady,” at the Vogue Theatre in Vancouver.  We caught up with the RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 8 winner just before she went on stage to a sold out venue to chat All Stars 4, touring Canada and what she would be doing if she wasn’t a drag queen.

Well-known for her catchphrase, “I am a hilarious, beautiful, talented, humble drag queen,” we couldn’t agree more after spending time with her. We laughed non-stop during the interview and throughout her show, we were taken back by how amazing she looked and even more so by the talent she has for captivating an audience and making the crowd feel like a part of the show. But most of all, she really, truly is an exceptionally kind and humble individual.

At the end of her show in Vancouver, which was added to the tour due to popular demand, Bob exclaims, “If anyone asks you ‘why she win?’ you say ‘fuck you!'” And she is right, Bob the Drag Queen is a deserving winner of the title America’s Drag Superstar, and ain’t nobody better be saying otherwise.

You are at the end of your "Crazy Black Lady" tour of Canada. Have the Canadians been treating you well?

I gotta say, this tour has been crazy. I was just at this theatre (Vogue Theatre, Vancouver) like a month and a half ago for Werk the World. It was me and six other drag queens and now it’s me in the same room by myself and its sold out. It’s so crazy to me. Canada has treated me really well, they’ve just been so nice to me. The whole tour sold out really fast, we even had to add some dates – it’s all really worked out.

As a hilarious, beautiful, talented, humble drag queen, how does it feel to have sold out shows and had dates added due to the demand?

Well it just affirms everything I said about myself *laughs*.  Honestly though, the reception has been overwhelming – I was shocked it sold so well and that Canadians really enjoyed it.

What are your most and least favourite things about being on tour?

It’s a lot of planes! No-one likes airports. People hate going to airports a couple of times a year – I’m going every single day, we’re getting on a plane and fly to the next location. I love being around my friends on tour. A lot of my friends are here with me on tour like DJ Mitch Ferrino, who is my business partner and music producer, Kennedy my assistant and all the dancers. We don’t really get to see each other much but when we are on tour we get to be around each other more. Oddly I also love moms who I seem to meet on tour a lot – a lot of moms like me. I don’t know what it is but they’ve decided to like me, which is weird not being the cleanest drag queen.

After winning Season 8, you've gone on to make a household name for yourself in the world of drag. What have been some of the highlights?

Household name – I’ll take that. I don’t know if I can pick one thing as the highlight. It’s pretty much just living the life of your wildest dreams, everything I thought I would do I have ended up doing. It’s also getting to work with people who have been respected for years and working on the same stage or venue together, or being personally invited to their events, that’s kinda been a big wow to me.

Like Whoopi Goldberg?

Yes, like Whoopi Goldberg, Kesha, Cynthia Erivo, Leslie Jones. And also my idols who aren’t necessarily huge household names like Jackie Beat, Peppermint and Sherry Vine. That’s a big deal for me too.

Which other drag race queen alumni do you spend the most time with?

I think I spend most of my time with Kim Chi from my season. After that, Monet X Change. Monet and I spend most time off the road together when we’re not working and nothing is going on, she is my best friend. I do most of my gigs with Kim Chi, we’ve done five world tours together.

RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars Season 4 is nearly here! Who are you rooting for?

I’m team Monet X Change – that’s my best friend. I’m also team Naomi Smalls who is also my good Judy from season 8.

So my personal favourite is Jasmine Masters, are you excited for her to bring her jush back for all All Stars 4?

You ever watch her youtube videos? My favourite one is where she goes, “boys do you like your arsehole busted wide open?” Me and my friends quote on a daily basis, “Just as I thought… trash.” Let’s get some just up in this gig!

Outside the drag race bubble, are there any other drag performers or queer artists that you are a big fan of right now?

My favourite drag queen of all time is Jackie Beat, always. I love a lot of queer comedians like Matteo Lane, Zach Noe Towers, Joel Kim Booster. Emma Willmann is another great comedian I love. There are so many I could literally sit here all day.

Do you have any other upcoming projects we'd be excited to hear about?

I have been working a lot more on some theatre projects lately from the writing perspective. I just did Angels in America at the Berkeley Repertory Theatre and now I am working on writing some shows. I am trying to write three plays this year which. One is a take on The Christmas Carol and one is a play about Harriet Tubman and then I want to write a play for kids and maybe help some boys who were a lot like me growing up.

We now have some questions from OUTtv viewers.

@theonlygayngster – if you could do anything else professionally besides drag, what would it be?

I guess some of the stuff I am already doing which is stand up and acting. I’d be doing a lot of the stuff I am doing but just not dressed as a woman. I also used to do real estate for a while – I was pretty good at it.

@zackarymarc asks – If there was a winners edition of All Stars, who would you be most nervous about competing against?

Well, I’d win *laughs*.

Jinx Monsoon.  Jinx Monsoon is probably the most talented queen to ever win RuPaul’s Drag Race. She’s amazingly talented.

@followmeonvine asks – what do you think of people who walk into the room purse…last?

*laughs* listen each to their own, whatever you want to put first, you put first that first. Prioritize your life.

Ok and now lastly from us, we're obsessed with this new viral video of two women called "The Cock Destroyers" who have overnight become gay icons. Take a look at the video and tell us what you think?

To gay guys that doesn’t sound so crazy but straight folks be like, “that’s outrageous,” and gay folks be like, “Oh, Thursday!”
