It’s all about the gold! Everyone is gagging over OUTtv’s latest competition show GoGo for the Gold and it’s about damn time we sat down with the stars! This week we’re talking with the judges and gods Adrian Hart, Teddy Bear and Jojo Guadz! Scroll down to hear all they have to say about the show, what it’s like being a performer and their tips on how to feel like your sexiest self.
What excites you most about the show?
Adrian Hart: That we finally get to share our hard work. The show highlights all the different talent.
Jojo Guadz: The thing that excites me most about the show is that Gogo boys are finally getting a chance to showcase their talent and personality on a larger platform.
Teddy Bear: The fact there has never been a show like this ever before! Its literally ground-breaking! Its like when Drag Race first happened years ago. You have to remember Drag was not respected back then. It was something most people made fun of at a bar. And now Drag is one of the most respected art forms across the WORLD! That’s what we are hoping we can accomplish with GoGo for the Gold.
Where do you go to find inspiration for new choreography?
Adrian Hart: I find my inspiration from my favorite artist like Tinashe, Janet Jackson & Ciara. Just trying different tricks and styles to keep things from getting too stale
Teddy Bear: Oh I am not a dancer haha. I am an entertainer and a personality, so I had been hired over the years as Teddy Bear for the show I would put on with my outfits and my interactions one on one with customers/fans. Thats the thing about GoGo dancing is there are many types of GoGo’s and many reasons you may get booked.
Jojo Guadz: Whenever I feel stuck while I’m choreographing I really like to just play the song and video tape myself free styling. I always end up coming up with something!
What moves do you find garner the best tips?
Adrian Hart: Usually when I do my tiger scorpion pose or really any yoga pose and swinging from the rafters at the abbey. I love to showcase my agility and flexibility.
Teddy Bear: For me its always when I turn around and show off my hairy back. Its something very unique to me that I rock with pride and no shame and customers see that and are attracted to that energy.
Jojo Guadz: Y’all already know what move makes me the most tips!
What are some of your biggest pet peeves while performing?
Adrian Hart: I hate when people just take pictures and videos without tipping or asking. When customers try to get a little too handsy.
Teddy Bear: Sexual Harassment from straight women. 9 times out of 10 they for some reason do NOT respect consent and they will come straight up and grab your genitals and then say, “why aren’t you hard?” There are so many layers to whats wrong with that moment and the way they handle being in a gay bar. Its one of the main reasons why I stopped performing in Palm Springs because it just became Bachelorette central and that’s basically a war zone in GoGo land.
Jojo Guadz: My biggest pet peeve while performing is when people touch me without consent. There is a respectful way to tip somebody. Different people have different levels of what they are comfortable with and you need to respect that.
What is the hardest part about being a judge for this competition?
Adrian Hart: Trying to be make decisions on who should stay in the competition and who should be sent home was the hardest. The outfits were super hard too. I was just putting stuff together and hoping it worked and it all came together great.
Teddy Bear: Having to judge my friends! So many of the GoGo’s competing are people I’ve danced with over the years! (But trust me I was a fair judge, in fact I ended up having to send most of my friends home) But it’s a show and I’m there for a reason: to judge.
Jojo Guadz: I think the hardest part about judging this competition was that this was the first season. The contestants were really setting the bar for what the standard of the competition would be. I didn’t know what I was going to be looking for, until the competition started.
What advice to you for someone that wants to feel more sexy?
Adrian Hart: Just be yourself. Think about your favorite pop star and how they would command the stage.
Teddy Bear: Don’t look for the approval of ‘sexy’ from everyone. Because that is a losing battle. You will never get everyone to like you. So my best advice is be the best version of YOU and that will radiate sexiness.
Jojo Guadz: If you want to feel sexy I think you should put on your favorite RnB song, set some good lighting, close your eyes and just go off. Don’t think about anything or anyone around you, just feel the music and own it. Don’t worry if you think you’re not a good dancer, or if you don’t know what you’re doing. Just feel it!
When you’re performing, what would you consider to be a great audience?
Adrian Hart: An audience that is respectful of the dancers. People cheering me on gives me energy.
Teddy Bear: Money!
Jojo Guadz: A great audience is an audience who is giving me the same energy I am giving them. Nothing is better then getting hyped the f*** up while I am going off.
If the show had weekly guest judges, what celebrity would you want to see on the show?
Adrian Hart: I’d really love to have Janet Jackson. She’s an icon and legend, one of the best dancers in the world. I grew up idolizing her as long as I can remember.
Teddy Bear: Hands down I would say Whitney from Real Housewives of SLC. She’s SUPER supportive of the LGBTQ+ community and knows her way around a gay bar. She could give really good advice and like a good GoGo, she isn’t afraid to show some skin.
Jojo Guadz: I definitely would want to see Mr. Magic Mike Channing Tatum in this b****. Duhhh.
