OUTtv is thrilled to welcome back the heartfelt and hilarious Good Grief for its second season—just in time for Lesbian Visibility Week! We sat down with cast members Mary-Colin Chisholm, Katerina Bakolias and new cast member Lyndie Greenwood to talk about what fans can expect, the importance of queer storytelling, and how the show has evolved both on-screen and off.

What was it like returning to your characters for Season 2?
Mary-Colin Chisholm: It was great to come back and marinate in the role a little longer. I missed my character—she’s rougher and gruffer than I am in real life. It’s such a release to play someone like that.
Katerina Bakolias: I loved coming back to Quinn, but it was also nerve-wracking! In Season 1, you’re figuring things out. In Season 2, you know people are watching, so there’s pressure to step up. It definitely felt more real this time around.
Season 2 introduces new characters. Was that always the plan?
Katerina: We had big ideas from the beginning. Lyndie’s character, Cameron, was actually in our original outline for Season 1, but we decided to focus more on the main group. So Season 2 gave us the chance to finally bring her to life.
Without giving too much away, what can fans expect this season?
Mary-Colin: Love is in the air! There are some surprises in store for my character.
Lyndie Greenwood: Cameron’s arc is big and ties into Season 1 in a surprising way. Fans will definitely enjoy it.
Katerina: We’re also shining a light on issues that deeply affect the LGBTQ+ community—some of which have sadly only grown more urgent since we filmed. This season feels even more relevant now.
Any memorable moments during filming?
Mary-Colin: There was a day we filmed a scene with drag queens and protestors. It was surreal—cars were slowing down, staring, and one guy even crashed his truck while screaming hateful things. No one was hurt, thankfully, but it was a clear sign that what we’re doing matters. That moment really hit us—this story we were telling was reflecting real life.
Why do you think Good Grief is important right now?
Lyndie: Living in the U.S., I feel the fear and hate ramping up. This show reminds us of the love within our communities. It celebrates queer joy and resilience, and that’s essential in today’s climate.
Mary-Colin: At my age, I feel like the lady holding a sign that says, “I can’t believe I’m protesting this again.” The world felt freer when I was younger. We’ve lost ground, but Good Grief is about living multifaceted, full lives—queer lives intertwined with all kinds of people.
How did your off-screen friendships influence your on-screen chemistry?
Katerina: The friendships really grew. You can see it shine through, especially between Mary-Colin and Martha Irving, who are best friends in real life and play best friends on the show. It made everything smoother and more natural.
Lyndie: I was new this season, but it was one of the warmest sets I’ve ever been on. Cameron arrives like a storm, but off-screen everyone was so kind. I even shadowed Amy [Trefry, co-creator/director] during filming, which helped me feel even more connected to the team.
If you could give your character one piece of advice heading into Season 2, what would it be?
Mary-Colin: Pick your battles.
Katerina: Quinn doesn’t have to be perfect. Let people take care of you—community is a two-way street.
Good Grief Season 2 premieres April 22nd , only on OUTtv.
