Without giving too much away, what can fans look forward to this season?

I’m trying to find a word to replace drama because I don’t want to say that there’s more drama because that makes it sound petty and disingenuous and that’s not it. I’m gonna say that there’s more high stake emotions, and more twists and turns. You think you know what For the Love of DILFS is about after watching season one, but season two is an entirely different ride at this amusement park. It’s a different cast and it’s never going to be the same people in the same situations and you just got to be prepared for whatever happens.

What was it like going from season one to season two?

With season one, we were still figuring it out the what the true intention of the show was. I didn’t want to be involved in clickbait or or just doing things for ratings. Reality TV comes with the stigma that it’s either fake or scripted, which I didn’t want to be a part of because that means that I’d be lying…and we know how I feel about that.

Luckily this show is whole hearted and I will say that everything turned out to be amazing and I couldn’t believe how much fun we had. The show also has a serious side that surprised me. There was a lot of deeper conversations and topics being discussed o the show such as body positivity, diversity, health and consent. All that was great to be a part of, and I was excited to continue those conversations into season two.

As far as your own tastes go, are you more into DILFs or himbos?

Oh, I have a daddy! Also, I  have an actual child….I don’t need to be raising two. But in all seriousness, I’m team daddy all the way. My husband actually works on the show and he is the epitome of a daddy. He’s actually in danger when he’s working…the contestants see him and they don’t realize he’s a camera operator and not another contestant. They’re immediately like “that one” and I have to tell them he’s not for sale!

Are there any crazy moments that happen during filming that don't make the final cut?

Well I’m not part of the editing process, but keep in mind we’re together in that house 24/7, so what viewers see is kind of the highlight reel. I also definitely get caught up in the drama….my husband Eric and I both do. If I’ve gone to grab dinner and he’s filming confessionals, he always fills me in. He’s almost become a gay man himself. I’ll come back and he’ll be like “Oh my god Storm, girl, let me tell you what this motherf***er just said.” So I get all the all the tea. Some of the stuff just naturally has to be chummed down but I think that Daddy TV is really good at making sure that all the best moments are included and that it all feels as authentic as it was when it was shot.

What’s the toughest part about playing the host?

Well it was definitely easier this time around. That “on camera anxiety” and nervousness if I was going to do a good job was pretty much non existent this time around. I knew what we were doing and it was exciting to be able to expand on it. It also helped that it was the same house and the same crew as season one.

It’s also a very collaborative environment, I work closely with the producers and chat with them throughout the year. They’re so open to suggestions, which is really refreshing. I’m able to ad lib and change a couple things around, and it’s those kind of things that help you feel more invested in your work. With season two I felt so much more involved and at first I wasn’t quite prepared for that, but it was exciting. I also really felt like I got to play up the mama bear role a lot more this season.

Why the name Stormy Daniels?

Stormy was the name my father wanted to name me and he’s Native American. The name was vetoed by my mother, and now I veto my mother! I always liked the name Stormy for me and I really think it fits. For Daniels, I literally pulled that off of a bottle of Jack Daniels, and I did that for two reasons. One, the bottle says it is a Southern favourite and I’m from New Orleans. Two, there is no other way to spell Daniels and for marketing, that’s important.

What does the queer community mean to you?

In one word, bravery. When all of the political stuff in my life got turned upside down a few years ago, I was lifted up, supported, triumphed and protected more by the queer community more than any other.

I think it’s because they understand what it’s like to be dismissed or treated less than human because of their preferences or their orientation or their beliefs. They really rallied and supported me throughout all of that and to me, in one word, that’s bravery.
