OUTtv Hits the Road with Hilarious New Comedy Docu-Series “Wish You Were Queer”

OUTtv Original Series to Premiere on 22nd May

April 2, 2025 – OUTtv today announced the upcoming premiere of its latest original series, “Wish You Were Queer”. This highly anticipated road trip comedy is set to premiere on 22 May, 2025 on OUTtv, the world’s leading LGBTQ+ streaming platform. The docu-series follows best friends and comedy sensations Michael Henry and Tim Murray hitting the road across Middle America, meeting locals, and diving into queer culture.

An OUTtv Original, “Wish You Were Queer” follows Michael and Tim, two ‘gay-famous’ best friends and content creators, as they journey across the USA to explore LGBTQ+ life beyond their West Hollywood bubble. With one outrageous goal in mind – to convince drag superstar Trixie Mattel to produce their stand-up comedy special – Tim and Michael bring viewers along for an unforgettable adventure through small towns, big laughs, and real stories. Trixie Mattel also features as Tim and Michael’s mentor and unlikely fairy drag-mother, who has the potential to change their lives if they play their cards right. From quirky local encounters to heartfelt community conversations, the series dives into how LGBTQ+ culture thrives (and survives) in America’s heartland. It’s comedy, it’s connection, and it’s queer to the core.

Philip Webb, COO of OUTtv, said: ““Wish You Were Queer” brings a fresh, funny, and touching perspective to LGBTQ+ life in unexpected places. It’s not every day you get a road trip this wild, this queer, and this hilarious. The show is everything we love at OUTtv – bold, unexpected, and fabulous, and we know our viewers are in for an unforgettable ride. We’re proud to champion this series and the creative team behind it as they celebrate the diversity of queer experiences across America.”

Co-creators Michael Henry and Tim Murray: “Michael and I have been touring together for years making each other laugh. Every time we’ve been on the road exploring what’s gay in each city we’ve said ‘someone should be filming this’ and now they are!,” said Tim Murray. “Yes! And Middle America gays are wild, and thankfully Trixie Mattel also wanted to be a part of this gay mayhem.” added Michael Henry

Frank Spadafora, co-creator and founder and CEO of D’Marie Productions, said: “Developing Wish You Were Queer has been a project amongst us friends since 2021, and it is so rewarding to create funny, creative, and uncensored gay content with friends. The whole crew in front of and behind the camera came together on this project for a grueling 14 days of filming in the sweaty southern summer heat, but the results were worth it. My gratitude is boundless.”

The six-episode series is produced for OUTtv by D’Marie Productions and executive produced by Mike Kelton and Frank Spadafora. “Wish You Were Queer” is an OUTtv original, co-created by Frank Spadafora, Tim Murray and Michael Henry.

Tim Murray is well known for his viral comedy videos on TikTok, where he has racked up over 10 million likes with his video series Every Conversation in LA, Unfunny Gay Guys and The Real Housewives for sad cities without an airport. Tim has performed stand-up all over the world and recently won The New York Queer Comedy Festival, a year-long competition against hundreds of other New York comedians. As an actor Murray can be seen in “The Other Two” on HBO and the film Swan Song also starring Jennifer Coolidge.

Michael Henry is a Gay comedic force to be reckoned with. He creates queer comedic content and has over 300k followers across his social media platforms with over 70 million YouTube views, and has done stand-up all across the USA, Canada and the UK. Michael has been featured on E! News, is a Queerty Award Winner and was named By The New York Times as A Queer Comedian to watch.
