OUTtv Unfurls Spring Slate

OUTtv commissions two brand-new comedy and documentary series, acquires new competition series

Renews slate of hit series for additional seasons

May 18, 2023 – OUTtv, the world’s leading LGBTQ+ television and streaming service, has commissioned two new original series for the service including heartfelt dramedy We Three Queens, and documentary I Work From Home for the service’s popular OUTspoken slate of unscripted content. In addition, OUTtv has acquired weekly competition series The Gold Rush and renewed six of its hit series for additional seasons including Drag Heals for season four, Pride for season five, and Behind the Drag Queen of the Year Pageant Competition Award Contest Competition, Dr. Jackie, Sugar Highs and Dating Unlocked all for a second season.

Scripted short form series We Three Queens (5 x 5’) is a funny and heartfelt dramedy produced by Thomas Rees and Michael Young which follows two young queers and a scrappy older woman living together. Ian Mackay (30) has no life where his life is heading. His mother was financing his on-again, off-again creative projects but she’s finally cut him off, and now he has to find (and fund) his own path forward. Meanwhile, Ian’s boyfriend, Lamar Jacobs, is a call-boy for needy middle-aged housewives. Though the gig is driving a wedge between him and Ian, he can’t pass up the cash these women keep throwing at him. And then there’s Delores Levine, an elderly but energetic widow, who’s on a mission to make her golden years count. And while the boys are the closest thing to family she’s got, Delores is not about to be anyone’s sweet old grandma.

OUTspoken: I Work from Home, produced by Border2Border Entertainment is an hour documentary focusing on how sites like OnlyFans have destabilized the traditional production, distribution and monetization of X-rated entertainment. The potential and risk to make the big bucks, along with all the headaches of running a business, is now in the hands of porn stars and starry-eyed newcomers working from home.

Brand-new acquisition for OUTtv’s slate, The Gold Rush (8 x 45-60’) is produced by Trash TV and is a weekly elimination competition for drag performers (introducing the world to real-life Drag Queens, Kings & Things) where the winner takes home a fabulous prize and the losers are sent packing! The show, a first of its kind, combines reality TV and docu-series elements in one glittering package – creating an exciting never-before-seen format. The competition is guest judged by a panel of drag industry professionals, including RuPaul’s Drag Race alumni, Glow Up makeup artists and drag legends, providing critique and mentorship to help the performers improve their skills and take their drag to the next level.

Also produced by Border2Border Entertainment, popular documentary series Drag Heals (8 x 30’) has been renewed for a fourth season. The series follows drag artists building their own stage show from deeply personal stories, exploring soul-deep story sharing techniques as well as the unique talents and skills required from a drag performer.

From PEG Productions, docu-series Behind the Drag Queen of the Year Pageant Competition Award Contest Competition (6 x 30’) has been renewed for a second season. Renowned drag queens Alaska Thunderf*ck and her creative drag partner Lola LeCroix return, as they put together their annual drag pageant to crown the Drag Queen Of The Year. The docu-series provides a detailed look into the planning and creativity that occurs backstage of drag competitions, and closely follows the duo as they come up against challenges and setbacks.

OUTtv are additionally bringing back Border2Border Entertainment’s Dating Unlocked (6 x 20’) for a second season. The series follows hopeful romantics from the LGBTQ2S+ community move beyond curated social media and dating profiles to find love in real life, and potentially share the key to their hearts. From the traditional to more radical, there are daters from all walks of life who share the same goal – to find a hook-up, a date or their one and only.

Additionally on OUTtv’s documentary slate, Pride has been recommissioned for a fifth season. Award-winning filmmaker Mark Kenneth Woods travels to different Pride celebrations around the globe to learn about LGBTQ+ history.

From Producer Entertainment Group, comedy series Dr. Jackie will return for a second season. After years of studying, failed actress Jackie Beat has finally become a psychotherapist. Barely qualified, but with a ‘natural gift’ for helping people alongside a self-centred tendency to give the worst advice possible, Dr Jackie uses role-playing, primal scream therapy, ink-blot tests and yes, even puppets to help her funny, famous and fabulous “friends” navigate the rocky road of mental health.

Finally, comedy drama series Sugar Highs has been renewed for a second season. The series follows three roommates who can’t make rent and would rather get high than work menial jobs so they set out to find sugar daddies to pay their bills. Produced by 2 Greedy Pictures, the series is created and directed by Thom Fitzgerald (The Hanging Garden, Cloudburst, Sex & Violence).
